The VIP Crew: Congratulations for your commitment to the University of Cincinnati.

Green: Thank you!

The VIP Crew: One school is very happy and another one is obviously sad. Can you discuss your transfer from Donaldsonville High School to Amite High School?

Green: It’s very personal. My family had to make a move, so I’d rather not talk about it because it’s real personal for me and my family.

The VIP Crew: Say less. I completely understand. Given the fact that it is your senior year, how are you dealing with the move?

Green: I’m a little upset. I know life goes on. You have to deal with certain things. I know I’m leaving behind a lot of relationships, a community that really cares about me in Donaldsonville. The thing about Amite, they have greeted me with open arms, they are treating me like I’m one of theirs, and the culture over here is great.

The VIP Crew: I was going to ask you what have the interactions and relationships been like with the coaches and your teammates?

Green: My relationship with my teammates, it’s like I’m one of their brothers. It’s like I’ve been here since I was a freshman. The coaches treat me like I’m one of their own. It feels like I’ve been an Amite Warrior. They put me in the best positions that will help the team and that will help me.

The VIP Crew: Your tape speaks for itself. Do you feel from a scheme standpoint you will be asked to do a lot of the same things in Amite’s system or your role and expectations to be altered?

Green: I feel like any role they put me in I’m going to succeed in because, the thing about me, I’m a hard worker. I like to push myself beyond the limits and do what I gotta do to help not just me but my team.

The VIP Crew: What has the focus been on this offseason?

Green: This offseason, the main thing I focused on was me gaining weight. I know I’m undersized for an edge rusher, 6’5 190 pounds… most edge rushers are like 6’5 210-225. Even if I couldn’t gain weight, I was in the weight room pushing, getting new PR’s [Personal Records]. On the field, me staying low, having active hands, and just becoming a better pass rusher.

The VIP Crew: You’re coming off of a junior season where you had 21.5 sacks. Are you

expecting a lot of chip blocks and double teams because of last seasons success?

Green: Yes sir! I feel like they’re going to try and pull out everything in the books to try and stop me. The thing is, with the team we have now, it’s not just me on the line, we have two interior lineman that’s going to dominate. We have another 6’5 225 edge who is going to dominate. We have big Jaylen [Haywood] 6’7 375, he’s going to dominate. So, if they try to double team me, chip block me, they’re leaving somebody one on one or unblocked to get a sack or TFL [Tackle For Loss].

The VIP Crew: When you get those stars by your name it puts a bullseye on your chest. Are you prepared for that and is that fuel or pressure for you?

Green: It’s not really pressure to me. To me, those stars really don’t mean anything. It’s nice to be 3-star, 4-star, 5-star, as far as getting your name out there, but stars done really mean anything. Before I got my first offer, I was still producing. My sophomore year, I had 11 sacks within 11 games. Before I got my first offer from South Alabama, I had 6 sacks within the first 3 weeks. Stars don’t mean anything, it’s just about how you work and how much you’re willing to sacrifice. If you work hard enough, anything in your mind, I feel like you can do.

The VIP Crew: I’m sure these quarterbacks don’t appreciate how closely acquainted you have been getting with them. What separates you from the pack in terms of your pass rushing abilities?

Green: They may stop or block me initially from getting to the quarterback, but I’m not going to give up. I’m always going to try to get to the quarterback. I’m not going to give up on the play. I will keep going, even if the play goes past me. A couple of plays on my film, I ran down receivers and quarterbacks. My effort, my motor, and my relentlessness will be there all the time.

The VIP Crew: You mentioned the culture at Amite. Is it different from Donaldsonville’s, similar, or something you’re still adjusting to?

Green: It’s kind of the same. The community and culture are very similar. My first year at

Donaldsonville was my sophomore year and they embraced me with open arms just how it was my freshman year at my old school, Lutcher. Once everybody found out I was coming to Amite. Amite was the same way, open arms, excited and looking forward to seeing me play to see what I bring to the team.

The VIP Crew: Given the fact that you are one of the biggest transfers in prep football this offseason, what keeps you grounded and enter the locker room and just be one of the fellas?

Green: Just be myself. I just gotta be myself and communicate with my teammates. They’ll understand me, I’ll understand them and we just grow a bond from there.

The VIP Crew: Given the success of your junior season, how do you duplicate or elevate your level of play?

Green: No plays off! A lot of plays my junior year, I made towards the end of the year. I feel like I could’ve had 30+ sacks last year if I didn’t slack off. I feel I need to be more discipline and know my role. I feel like I’m one of the best edge rushers in the state. I’m ranked #3 in the state amongst edge rushers. I feel like I should be getting 35 sacks a season. I feel like I could break the Louisiana single season sack record!
